Obsidian Rock: Part 2
The legend behind Apache Tears and how they got their name is that the stones are the tears of the women and families of the Apaches’ killed by The American Calvary after they had raided a settlement in Arizona. Apache Tear rocks can help heal the hurting heart that comes about from grief over the loss of a loved one or grief over a loved one who is suffering from an accident or illness. They help you to understand the situation and accept the limits of what you can do to change it.
Apache Tears are somewhat rounded, almost bead shaped pieces of Obsidian. They can be as small as 1/4 inch and are rarely found larger than 2 inches across. At first glance, they appear to be as opaque as a plain rock, but a bright light shows they are somewhat translucent. They are often found as individual stones but sometimes are round with a matrix of yet another volcanic material called Perlite.
Black Obsidian is perhaps the most common type of obsidian and is found anywhere in the world where volcanos have been nearby. It is especially good for helping to improve psychic abilities and is often made into scrying mirrors for this purpose. By allowing your mind to travel into the depths of the interior, you can open the doors to knowledge and information from the source.
Black obsidian also helps to give you the “get up and go” to accomplish your dreams and make your desires a reality. Be forewarned however, black obsidian is not a gentle stone. It can bring things to the surface of our reality very quickly, before we have time to process them and should not be used by those with very mild personalities. To do so may force you to deal with thoughts and concepts you are not ready to accept.
Blue Obsidian not only helps to activate the throat chakra, but also helps to increase psychic abilities, especially telepathy. It is a great rock for those that make speeches because it absorbs the tension that most people feel prior to public speaking. Sleep with one of the stones to help make astral travel easier.
As a healing stone, blue obsidian is used for most disorders, both physical and mental, that involve the area from the base of the throat to the top of the head. From a physical standpoint, this would include any sort of throat problems or infections, infections within the jaw or gums, sinus problems, eye infections and to help prevent lost of vision, plus ear infections and to help prevent hearing loss.
From a mental standpoint, blue obsidian can help with any disorder in which confusion is a problem. This includes but is not limited to Alzheimer’s disease, multiple-personality disorder and schizophrenia.
Blue Green Obsidian
Blue Green Obsidian helps to connect your heart center and your communication center so you can speak with caring and understanding. It is a great balancing stone to keep mind and spirit in balance so they compliment each other.
This makes Blue Green obsidian a great stone for people who must speak in public or official business meetings regarding topics that are necessary, but painful to deal with. The need to let employees go or cutting expenses on health care costs are subjects which come to mind.
Gold Sheen Obsidian
Gold Sheen Obsidian is another good gemstone for diviners. It has the additional benefit of helping you to see the very basic cause of a problem, to bring it out into the open so it can be dealt with and dispatched. Try meditating with a stone and you will be shown what you really need in your life, not just the “things” that you want.
Gold Sheen Obsidian makes a great choice for use as a scrying tool. Any piece with at least one highly polished surface works fine. If you find a blockage on your spiritual path and are having thoughts of the world (or yourself) no longer being worthy of going on, work with a Gold Sheen Obsidian to bring meaning back into your life.
Mahogany obsidian is a great stress and tension reliever. Hold one or more rocks while meditating to break through and eliminate any energy blockages that are holding you back, allowing you to achieve better results. It also helps your physical, emotional and intellectual selves to come together and work harmoniously.
Those whose spiritual path has reached the point where they are ready to begin working through individual flaws, can receive help by working with Mahogany Obsidian. It can show you what your flaws are in a non threatening way so you can work on them without berating yourself.
Rainbow obsidian is about love in all its many aspects. Diviners will find using a rainbow obsidian when seeking answers involving love will be much more in depth than normal. It is also good for magick to attract love into your life.
If you are having problems with your self image and tend to berate yourself for every little perceived imperfection, Rainbow Obsidian can help you eliminate the true flaws, while accepting the perceived flaws as being normal. It is exceptionally good for people who constantly put themselves down or try to measure themselves against others. It helps you to see you are a beautiful person inside and out, so you can turn your attention to helping others and away from yourself.
Red Obsidian is about energy. It kick starts your psychic abilities better than waking up with a cup of hot coffee in the morning. It also helps keep you going during the day, providing needed energy to get through the afternoon with energy to spare.
Red Obsidian is also good to help balance energies of opposite polarities. This include male/female, light/dark, happy/sad and positive/negative. If you find yourself going too far into the negative aspects of any energy, it can help you pull back toward a better balance of the extremes.
Silver Sheen Obsidian
Silver Sheen obsidian is another good diviners stone. It allows your to bring information from all the various layer of existence together to look at the whole picture. Often it is hard to understand how the negative things that happen to us could ever have been in our best interest, but that is because we can’t see all the different layers at once and when you manage to comprehend it all, the various layers settle in together and questions that have long since been unanswered become fully and completely understood.
If you find yourself losing patience with yourself or others, working with Silver Sheen Obsidian helps you to not only learn patience, but to also keep digging till you find why this negative trait is causing your problems. Silver Sheen Obsidian is also another great stone for use in scrying.
Snowflake Obsidian allows you to see the areas of your life where you are stuck which causes you to experience the same types of problems over and over again. It allows you to not only see where the patterns are at in your life, but also helps you to find a way through them and clear the unnecessary baggage out of your life so it will run smoother.
If you find that Black Obsidian is too harsh or forceful in showing where your inner faults are, try using a Snowflake Obsidian instead. It is much gentler in the way it brings things to the forefront. If you are not fully prepared to deal with your faults, snowflake obsidian can help you maintain your emotional balance while working through the faults.
