This is a citrine Larry and I bought on one of our trips to Franklin NC. It is a good example of the varying colors citrine can have. This example has everything from very pale yellow to a deep dark yellow that looks more like smokey quartz it is so dark.
I love the warm, almost amber shades of this one. I think we paid about $8 in a little tourist trap roadside rock shop on one of our trips about 20 years or so ago. Not sure what one would go for today. But the price of stones has gone p dramatically since the crash of 2008.
Do you have any citrine in your collection? If so, please share a pic of them. I want everyone to have the opportunity to see that many wonderful varieties this lovely stone can come in. Simply add a comment to this post and add your pics to it!
