Bloodstone - The Heroes Gemstones

bloodstone specimen

A hero's gemstone, often seen in armor breast plates and on swords for it's ability to arouse courage in the most dangerous situations. Also considered to be a very strong healing gemstone allowing the wearer to remain strong in battle long after those around you have fallen.

Rather than removing us from not so calm situations, Bloodstone helps us to see how much better we will be when we come out the other end of the confrontation. It helps us let go of selfishness and gives us a more worldwide view of life. Promotes creativity, self-expression, and artistry.

Bloodstone is a form of Chalcedony. The green is green jasper and the red inclusions are either iron oxide or red jasper. It is possible for stones to have yellow or other colors in them also, but when this happens it is known as fancy jasper, not bloodstone. India is the primary source of bloodstone but it can also be found in Brazil, China, Australia, and the United States.
